Frugal Living

Have you ever noticed that a person becomes more creative when she needs to be? For example, since the economy is super sluggish, more people are enjoying  meaninful, inexpensive diversions. For example, more than ever, it is "fashionable" to redesign things to make them current for today's needs. Necessity really is the mother of invention.

One of my favorite creative outlets, "aka",  "diversions" is remaking a garment into a one of a kind portable piece of "art" that allows me to express my individuality. The best part of that is that nobody needs to like it except me, and nobody will have one exactly like mine. In the following days, I will share with you some of my unique "creations" and hopefully inspire you to look at fabrics and other things in a different light. For example, when I looked at  an "outgrown" dress of mine, I didn't see the defeat of having gained 10 pounds, rather I saw a new pair of shorts. A nice pair, at that.
Gotta go pick strawberries now, but come back in a couple of days and I will share what I've been up to. I'm sure you'll be inspired!!

Learn to turn unloved sweaters into sporty, stylish toboggans, pillows, earmuff, etc. Need maternity clothes but are low on cash? Learn how to turn your clothes that you're tired of, into your new maternity wardrobe. (Too bad you'll need new clothes after the birth).
Take plain Jane garments and embellish them with applique, using your sewing machine, a cut-out object, and a simple satin stitch.
Check back at the before and after photos of projects you will learn to create.
